ADB has approved loans for Afghanistan totaling almost $1 billion and grants amounting to $3.3 billion since 1966.
ADB is delivering vital assistance to improve the lives of the people of Afghanistan. Travel by road and air has been made easier; electricity is more widely available; farm incomes are more secure; and there is greater accountability in the public sector.
Future ADB assistance to Afghanistan will continue a focus on the country’s energy, transport, agriculture, natural resources, and governance. Support to these sectors will include capacity and institutional development, as well as sector reform.
