KABUL - With the movement of migrants and refugees continuing to dominate global headlines, a new edition of the Population Movement Bulletin issued by the UN in Afghanistan, provides updated information including the situation of returnees and displaced people within Afghanistan.

In addition to providing an overview and analysis of regional migration figures, the Bulletin also highlights the findings of the latest UNHCR report on conflict-induced displacement in Afghanistan. During 2015, 31 out of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces were affected by conflict, resulting in the forcible displacement of more than 63,000 families.

Also in the latest edition, Ban Ki-moon, the UN Secretary-General characterizes the large movements of refugees and migrants as involving a ‘crisis of solidarity’. He points to the World Humanitarian Summit later this month and the General Assembly meeting in September as forums that could lead the way toward new solutions.
