High intensity fighting has been reported in Helmand province. On the 1 August Non-state armed groups (NSAGs) launched a coordinated attack on the Nad-e-Ali district centre prompting a wave of displacement into Lashkar Gah city.
Since the 1 August 403 households have been displaced (approximately 2 800 people) from Nad-e-Ali have and are moving towards Lashkar Gah city. Given ongoing military operations there is potential for further small scale population movements.
The deterioration of security in the area is threatening the work of humanitarian actors who are addressing the needs of the local population. Road links have been cut and hospitals have reported a notable increase in the number of incoming wounded patients since the beginning of August.
