NEEDS
The Cluster response during this quarter was driven by meeting the immediate shelter and NFI lifesaving needs of the displaced population due to armed conflict, Return and natural disasters all over the country.
190,563 individuals affected by armed conflict, 59,124 individuals by natural disaster were assessed.
The return of 88,079 individuals from neighboring countries has increased shelter and NFIs needs substantially.
RESPONSE
The ES/NFI Cluster utilized various response modalities including cash based interventions and in-kind assistance to meet the shelter and NFI needs of the affected population. During this quarter (July– September 2017), a total of 120,000 individuals were assisted.
- 102,801 individuals received NFIs
- 5,691 individuals received emergency shelter, including cash for rent
- 10,501 vulnerable individuals received a variety of shelter support including the construction of transitional shelters with the possibility to extend as part of a more durable shelter to recover after the shock, while others received materials and cash to upgrade their existing shelters.
- 102,801 individuals received NFIs
As of 01 January - 30 September 2017, the Cluster responded to various ES/NFI needs of approximately 395,828 individuals against its total target of 1.3 million individuals in 2017.
GAPS / CHALLENGES
- Evidence-based data on the shelter needs in hard to reach areas is required.
